What Is A Dermaplaning?
Your skin is exposed to harsh elements on a daily basis, from environmental toxins and irritants to sun damage, which in turn can make skin appear dull and aged.Dermaplaning is a highly effective procedure for removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells and the layer of velous hair  (‘peach fuzz’). The removed skin cells are no longer a protectant, but a barrier for product penetration and other procedures. The thin facial hair trap dirt and oil. That is why the treatment guarantees the smoothest skin possible and allows for better penetration of skin care products.  The  method of controlled ‘scraping’  is safely performed using a sterile disposable surgical blade.

​Who is the Perfect Candidate for Dermaplaning?
The clients with dull, dry, dehydrated skin are excellent candidates.

Dermaplanning is also a perfect treatment to be performed with advanced treatments (HydrO facials, Enzymes, LED light Therapy, O2 Therapy or Chemical peels). When combined with other treatments, Dermaplaning can enhance their effectiveness.

Contraindication for Dermaplaning
We cannot dermaplane someone who is highly sensitive, has pustular or active rosacea, acne, thick dark (terminal) hair, pregnant and diabetic clients. Please stop using exfoliants 48 hours prior to the treatment:
  • AHA acids
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Retinols and tretinoin
  • Enzymes
  • Azelaic acid
  • Adapelene
What should I know before the treatment?
If you are experiencing an acne flair up before the treatment, you may need to wait until it subsides. We also recommend avoiding sun exposure for two weeks before the appointment.

What should I know after the treatment?
After the treatment, you can go about your day as usual! There is zero downtime after a Dermaplaning treatment. You may experience mild redness after the treatment, but this will quickly improve. In addition, it is best to avoid exfoliation, retinoids 2-3 days after treatment.The most high quality products possible with stem cells, Vitamin C, Peptides and Antioxidants.As always, it is important to wear broad-spectrum SPF. After Dermaplaning, we advise that you do not use exfoliators or scrubs for one week.

Can Dermaplaning cause acne?
Quite the opposite! Dermaplaning does not cause acne. This exfoliating treatment can actually help improve it! Dead skin cells can lead to clogged pores and hair follicles which can result in acne, pimples and whiteheads. Removing the top layer of your skin will also allow for acne medication (if applicable) to penetrate deeper and increase its effectiveness. However, Dermaplaning cannot be performed on skin with active acne.

Does Dermaplaning hurt?
Dermaplaning is a completely painless treatment! Although it involves the use of a scalpel, an incision is never made; the scalpel delicately glides just above the outermost layer of skin, removing any hair and dead skin cells in its path.

Is Dermaplaning safe?
This treatment is extremely safe when performed by an experienced Medical Aesthetician. It is non-invasive comparable to a man shaving his face. Dermaplaning is also safe for pregnant and nursing women.

Will the vellus hair grow back thicker?
No. It is physiologically impossible for vellus hair, also known as peach-fuzz, to grow back thicker or darker. Vellus hair, when cut or removed, will grow back the same, as the structure of the hair is not damaged.

How long do results from Dermaplaning last?
The results of Dermaplaning are immediate! You’ll notice your skin is brighter, smoother and rejuvenated. Your individual results will vary depending on your rate of skin cell turnover but typically results last between three to four weeks.

How often should you Dermaplane?
We recommend Dermaplaning monthly; exfoliation is important for maintaining a healthy skincare regimen. Dermaplaning removes twenty-one days’ worth of dead skin cells. It is best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next Dermaplaning treatment.

Great service to prep your skin for a big event where you want to impress, like a wedding or reunion. Works as a stand alone procedure days before the event or performed as a package 3-4 session, every 10-14 days leading up to the event.

NO SHOW/ LATE CANCELLATION POLICY 

t’s important to understand that when forgetting or cancelling appointments without giving enough notice, businesses lose the opportunity to fill that appointment time, and other clients waiting for appointments miss out on receiving services. For the benefit and respect of all our clients and professionals, booking appointments through THE PURE SKIN are subject to the following terms:


  • We respectfully request at least 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment time for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments; 24hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule groups of three or more appointments,
  • ANY APPOINTMENTS CANCELLED/RESCHEDULED OR CHANGED WITHOUT POLICY’S HOURS’ NOTICE WILL RESULT IN A CHARGE EQUAL TO 60% OF THE RESERVED SERVICE AMOUNT.
  • ALL “NO SHOWS” WILL BE CHARGED 100% OF THE RESERVED SERVICE AMOUNT.
  • Appointments that are booked within the 12-8-hour period are still subject to the cancellation policy.
  • FOR A SCHEDULED TREATMENT USING YOUR GIFT CARD/CERTIFICATE OR MONTHLY ACCRUED MEMBER CREDIT- IT WILL BE CONSIDERED REDEEMED AND VOIDED ON THE DATE OF YOUR APPOINTMENT.
  • As a courtesy, appointment confirmation messages are sent 48 hours in advance of appointments by both SMS and email to the contact information given at time of booking. Failing to respond to those confirmation messages could result in your appointment slot being given to another client.

APPOINTMENT FORM- You will receive an email with the consultation form attached. Please take a few moments to fill out the CONSULTATION  FORM before the appointment. This will allow RM to better understand our needs and tailor our services to meet your expectations. 

TIME: As small business please arrive at least 10-5 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for check-in and relaxation.

LATE ARRIVALS may result in shortened treatment times.

SILENCE YOUR DEVICES To maintain a peaceful atmosphere, silence your cell phone or electronic devices before entering the studio area.
Communicate any preferences or concerns you have with your esthetician before the treatment begins. This includes discussing any allergies, sensitivities, or areas of focus.

RESPECT THE QUIET ZONE: The studio  is a place of tranquility and relaxation. Speak softly and avoid loud conversations in common
areas. 


Avoid lingering in common areas or treatment rooms after your session has ended.

HYGIENE:  Practice good personal hygiene.

Attire: Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment and remove any jewelry or accessories that may interfere with your treatment. Your esthetician will provide you with appropriate gowns or towels as needed.

A credit card is required to reserve your appointment. While every effort is made to provide a courtesy confirmation, please be sure to call us to verify your appointment time and services.

RETURN
If, for any reason, you are not fully satisfied with a product, please return the unused portion of the product along with the receipt within 14 days, and we will gladly issue you a TPS studio credit for future use.

In the event that a service has been paid for as part of a package but not yet used past the 48 hrs or partially used but the client no longer wishes to receive that particular service, another service or products will be made available to the client to chose from to the exact amount remaining on the account.
